The Power of Small Beginnings Do not Despise, Enjoy it

Have you ever had a small pebble or stone in your shoe and you only realised it is there because you can feel the effects of it through your whole body all the way to your head? That is what small beginnings does it is a step of faith that will eventually make maximum impact. Take for example, finance, as a single parent with two boys under the age of 8, I work every week and I have lots of commitments that needs to be met. Lately, I have been faced with ongoing storms in my life, leaking roof, broken washing machine, broken boiler, illness, my children being sick or having accidents, death of a relative and so on. During this time I kept thinking I am working and I am not making enough money to pay all these commitments and unexpected expenses, what should I do? I prayed and asked for help. I was then led to sit down and write a budget, work out weekly payments and meet the commitments that I have. Start making small payments by dividing the payments into four weekly payments so that at the end of the month it reduces the large amount I need to pay, what a revelation!

We all have been given the same number of hours in the day and it is what we do with it can make the maximum impact in our everyday lives. This has been a breakthrough. Some mums may be doing that already and this is great. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire (James 3:5). Although this scripture relates to the tongue, which is small by the way, what maximum impact we can make when we speak words of life into our lives and the lives of our loved ones for death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21). We are encouraged to do not despise these small beginnings for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand (Zech 4:10). We are to enjoy making small payments because the lump sum is decreasing, enjoy contributing to a cause in some small way as best as we can for the outcome will make maximum impact in our whole lives, whether it be that work life balance that we all strive for or taking a step of faith. When we reflect on the small beginnings in Biblical stories we see that Moses held up a rod and the Red Sea parted, our faith can be the size of a mustard seed and we will move mountains, Abraham gave 10% of his increase to Melchizedek the priest and he became a great nation, we just need to search for one God and He will give us all and everything we need.

The power of small beginnings is enormous, its outcome is maximum impact so we should not despise it but enjoy it.
